Quick Reference

A fixed orthodontic appliance, first described by H. N. Nance in 1947, used either to rotate molar teeth, stabilize them, or prevent them from drifting mesially. It consists of fixed bands on molars either side of the arch with a connecting palatal archwire, in the centre of which is a button of acrylic resin which fits against the palatal surface.
