Also known as the incisive canal. One of two canals running downward, anteriorly, and medially from the nasal floor close to the midline to meet at a common opening, the incisive fossa (anterior palatine foramen) on the anterior surface of the maxilla. A developmental nasopalatine cyst can arise from the nasopalatine epithelium.
