Quick Reference

An independent charitable trust founded in 1993 with the aim of raising standards of literacy among children and adults nationally, in order to create a ‘literate nation’. It draws attention to the wider issues which affect standards of literacy, such as social and economic circumstances, rather than simply focusing on the teaching of literacy in schools. Among its initiatives are the National Reading Campaign and Talk to Your Baby.
