Quick Reference

Originally established in 1922 exclusively for university students, the NUS currently draws its membership from institutions of both further and higher education. Each college or university has its own branch of the union, which sends delegates to the national conferences, which are held twice‐yearly. Members elect a national executive committee, which acts to promote the interests of students. See also students' union.
