Pertaining to the first 4 weeks after birth. A neonatal line is produced by altered dentine or enamel, which marks the disruption in its formation at birth. It is only seen in primary teeth or first permanent molars; it can provide an important forensic landmark. Neonatal teeth may erupt during the period immediately after birth and continuing through the first 28 days of life. See also natal teeth.
