sixth Catholicos of the Armenian Church. A descendant of Gregory the Illuminator, he became Catholicos c.353. He was responsible for reorganizing the Armenian Church and for many charitable foundations. He was exiled by the Arianizing King Arshak II. Restored by his successor, Nerses censured the new King and was poisoned by him. Feast day, 19 Nov.
