A member of the EF-hand calcium-binding protein superfamily (dimeric, 193 aa) found in neurons, especially in the central nervous system. Other members of the family include recoverin, visin, VILIP, and hippocalcin. Neurocalcin is myristoylated, and also binds clathrin and tubulin.
