Overview

neutrino

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

An elementary particle with zero charge and a very small rest mass. Three types of neutrino are known: the electron neutrino, the muon neutrino, and the tau neutrino. Neutrinos have only a weak interaction with matter and consequently neutrinos produced in nuclear reactions at the centres of stars can escape without colliding with the overlying material. Neutrinos may account for some of the dark matter in the Universe. Neutrinos are leptons.
