A one-volume-per-play edition, established under the General Editorship of T. J. B. Spencer in 1967. Each volume has an extended introduction, a freshly-edited, modernized text, a detailed Commentary, and an Account of the Text. The sections for further reading were revised in 1996–7. So far the edition includes all the plays except Cymbeline and Titus Andronicus.
