Was the policy adopted by the Trades Union Congress in the 1980s that involved acceptance of the Conservative government's programme of collective employment law. The term is also used to refer to the eschewal of militancy by trade unions and the search for a more cooperative relationship with employers. In the 1980s, this found expression in the signing of single-union agreements. The recent vogue for labour-management partnership represents a continuation of this policy.
