Newtonian mechanics

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

The system of mechanics that relies on Newton's laws of motion. Newtonian mechanics is applicable to bodies moving at speeds relative to the observer that are small compared to the speed of light. Bodies moving at speeds comparable to the speed of light require an approach based on relativistic mechanics, in which the mass of a body changes with its speed.
