Quick Reference

A phosphoprotein (Na+/H+ exchanger regulatory factor, ezrin–radixin–moesin binding protein 50, solute carrier family 9 isoform A3 regulatory factor 1, SLC9A3R1, 358 aa) that binds to ERM proteins and is involved in protein kinase A (PKA)-mediated regulation of ion transport and in recruiting PTEN to the cytoplasmic region of the PDGF receptor, thereby inhibiting PI3kinase signalling. Expression is up-regulated in response to oestrogen in oestrogen receptor-positive breast carcinoma cell lines. Mutations in the gene are found in some patients with calcium-containing renal stones and/or bone demineralization, apparently because of renal phosphate loss.
