‘Xanthopoulos’, Byzantine historian. His main work, a ‘Church History’, covers the period from the birth of Christ to the death of the Emp. Phocas (610). It preserves material on some of the early controversies and heresies. In 1555 it was translated into Latin and furnished material for the defence of images and relics.
