A sulphated glycoprotein (150 kDa) found in basement membranes, with three globular regions, G1 and G2 connected by a thread-like structure and G3 connected to G2 by a rod-like region. The G2 region binds to collagen IV and perlecan. There are two isoforms, nidogen-1 and nidogen-2 (osteonidogen), with broadly similar properties.
