Is work that is carried out between 11.00 p.m. and 6.00 a.m. Under the working-time regulations, there is a limit of 8 hours night work in 24, averaged over a 17-week period. In hazardous work or work that makes extreme physical and mental demands on workers, the hours limit is 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Night work is often colloquially known as ‘being on nights’.
