A grove near the town of the Buddha's birth.Kapilavastu. The grove was donated by Nigrodha, a member of the Śākya clan. The Buddha stayed here on many occasions, including his first visit to the town in the year after his enlightenment (bodhi). It was here that the Buddha performed the ‘twin miracle’, when flames and water issued forth from his body (yamaka-pāṭihāriya), and that Mahāprajāpatī first requested him to admit women to the Order (Saṃgha).
