A support or basis. The term is used in various contexts, such as the five supports for eliminating evil and cultivating good, namely faith.shame, decency, effort, and insight. It also refers to the four requisites of a monk.namely: the root of a tree for abode (vṛkṣa-mūla), alms-food for nourishment (piṇḍapāta), refuse rags for garments (pāṃsukūla), and cow's urine for medicine (pūtimukta-bhaiṣajya).
