Part of R. Good's (The Geography of the Flowering Plants, 1974) African subkingdom, within his palaeotropical kingdom. It contains about 50 endemic (see endemism) genera, although the island of Socotra accounts for nearly half of these despite the fact that it is not notably isolated. Coffea arabica is native to this region. See also floral province and floristic region.
