(1912–2006) Helen Northen, PhD, was an educator, scholar, and author of classic social work textbooks. Considered one of the foremost authorities on social work with groups, she also developed expertise and published extensively in the areas of clinical social work practice and health care. She was a prolific writer who continued to publish into her nineties and her books remain widely used in social work education.
