Quick Reference

The CCEA determines the curriculum in Northern Ireland and manages the assessment of pupils at Key Stages 1, 2, and 3. It also oversees the conduct of public examinations such as the General Certificate of Education, the regulation of General National Vocational Qualifications in Northern Ireland, and the administration of the Transfer Tests (Eleven Plus tests). These tests may be curtailed in 2008. A revised curriculum was introduced during the academic year 2006/7, incorporating annual assessment.
