Restrict smoking to certain areas in a building or ban it totally. In any city, it is often easy to identify offices with smoking bans because at coffee breaks there are frequently small huddles of employees outside the front door or in the car park puffing away on their cigarettes. Voluntary policies developed by employing organizations are common but in many countries, including England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, have been overridden by a statutory ban on smoking that covers most workplaces. [See smoking ban.]
