A diagnostic test that assesses the degree of tautness in the iliotibial band. The patient adopts a side-lying position with hips at zero degree flexion and the examiner passively adducts the leg. Pain or tightness is a sign of iliotibial hand syndrome. Tenderness localized on the supralateral aspect of the greater tuberosity indicates a bursitis.
