Quick Reference

A clause contained in the articles of association of a company setting out the objects for which the company has been formed. The Companies Act 2006 removes the former requirement for a company to state its objects in this way. An act by a company that falls outside the scope of the objects clause is no longer voidable in law unless the company is a charity. See ultra vires.
