Quick Reference
The selective recontouring or reshaping of the morphological anomalies of the tooth surface, such as occlusal fissures, by removal of small amounts of enamel to change the surface, length, or shape of a tooth. This procedure has been adopted to reduce plaque retention but has been largely replaced by the more conservative approach of using fissure sealants.
