The agency established by the US Congress in 1972 that existed until 1995 to assess existing and new technologies in all sectors and fields of activity. The OTA reviewed many technologies related to activities in the health sector, made recommendations, and published reports to assist decision making by health administrators. Other nations have similar government and private sector agencies. In the Netherlands, valuable work has been done on possible future technology developments as well as existing ones.
