A general term for any solvent of natural or synthetic organic origin. They are used as paint removers, degreasing agents, vehicles for glue and other adhesives, etc. These are volatile solvents, and some of them are highly toxic. Several are used as addictive inhalant substances, and these can cause brain damage and sometimes acute nephrotoxicity.
