The study of the design, structure, and process of decision making in organizations (see organizational design). The sociology of organizational systems, and the structure of relationships within them, are central to organizational theory.
Considerable work has been carried out on the way in which decisions are made, both by individuals and groups (committees) within organizations. The extent to which managers are influenced by organizational politics, rather than being guided by reason and economics, in making their decisions is an aspect of considerable importance.
