(1580–1645). Spanish painter, born in Murcia and apprenticed in Toledo, where he resided in 1600. Some time between 1604 and 1612 he was in Venice, presumably working with Leandro Bassano. His activity from 1612 to 1632 was divided between Toledo, Murcia, and Valencia. He is recorded in Valencia in 1638, and remained there until his death. Orrente's pictures are seldom signed; confirmed dates are scarce and limited to the years 1615–19.
