A monospecific family (Osphronemus goramy); a fish that inhabits swamps and rivers, and is cultured in ponds as a food fish in southern Asia. Somewhat oval in outline, the giant gourami will grow into a rather heavy, robust fish reaching a length of about 65 cm. It is easily recognizable by the very long pelvic fin rays, and a rather large anal fin. It is closely related to other gouramis and labyrinth fish of the family Belontiidae.
