Quick Reference

Who attempted to hold Deira after the death of Edwin in 633, was his cousin, son of Aelle's brother, Aelfric. But the following year he was killed by Cadwallon of Gwynedd, whom he was besieging, probably at York. The territory of Northumbria was overrun and split once more into its component parts.
