Ballet in one act with choreography by Robbins, music by Chopin, and costumes by Santo Loquasto. Premiered 9 May 1976 at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York by Makarova and Baryshnikov, at a gala for Lincoln Center's Library of the Performing Arts. Danced to four mazurkas and a waltz, it is a duet that plays with the virtuosity of its two dancers. It has since been taken into the repertories of several companies including New York City Ballet, the Royal Ballet (1989), San Francisco Ballet, and Morphoses.
