Quick Reference

Fibres (ODFs) located on the outside of the axoneme in the midpiece and principal piece of the mammalian sperm tail, probably contributing to the mechanical properties. The proteins composing the fibres include Odf1 (ODF27, 241 aa) which interacts with sperm associated antigen 4 (SPAG4) through a leucine zipper, Odf2 which shares partial homology with centriolar cenexins, Odf3 (254 aa), and Odf4 (257 aa). Odf5 is rhophilin 1, a rho GTPase binding factor.
