oxygen electrode

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

An electrode that will detect changes in oxygen concentration and can be used to monitor oxygen consumption. It uses an oxygen-permeable PTFE (Teflon) membrane to separate the test chamber from a compartment containing a saturated KCl solution and two electrodes, a platinum cathode and a silver anode. A fixed polarizing voltage is applied between the two electrodes and the resulting current (~1 μA) is proportional to oxygen concentration.
