(b ?Neustift [now Novacella, Italy]; flfrom 1474; d Bruneck [now Brunico, Italy], after 1508). Austrian painter. Although he may initially have assisted michael Pacher in his workshop in Bruneck, their kinship remains unproven. Friedrich Pacher was entrusted with parochial and judicial duties in Bruneck, which indicates his own successful career. Records dated 1501 and 1504 show that his skill had attracted the attention of Emperor Maximilian I.
