Her volumes of poetry, which combine classical allusion with an increasingly contemporary idiom, include Alibi (1985), Summer Snow (1990, with poems invoking Crete and the ‘summer snow deep in the mountain’ of Mount Ida), Angel (1993), Fusewire (1996), Rembrandt Would Have Loved You (1998, an intimate exploration of a love affair), Voodoo Shop (2002), and The Soho Leopard (2004). Scholarly works include In and Out of the Mind: Greek Images of the Tragic Self (1992) and Whom Gods Destroy: Elements of Greek and Tragic Madness (1995).
