The two Theban princes whose love for Emelye is the subject of Chaucer's ‘The Knight's Tale’ (see Canterbury Tales, 1), following the Teseida of Boccaccio. The tale was paraphrased in heroic couplets by Dryden under the title ‘Palamon and Arcite’. It is also the subject of The Two Noble Kinsmen.
