Also known as the Fables of Bidpai, the PaṇTcatantra (“five books”) is the Grimm's Fairy Tales and Aesop's Fables of India, a collection of Sanskrit tales written down between about 100 bce and 500 ce, attributed to Viṣṇuśaram. The stories are meant both to teach moral lessons and to entertain.
