Quick Reference

A cryptic condition in which heterozygous individuals are phenotypically normal and the trait only becomes obvious if there is loss of heterozygosity in some lineages during development, so that some cells become homozygous or hemizygous for the mutation and the individual is a mosaic of normal and abnormal cells. A few rare disorders, particularly of skin, are thought to arise through paradominant inheritance. Cutis marmorata telangiectatica congenita (CMTC) is a rare congenital vascular anomaly also thought to arise through this route.
