(Skt.). The ‘final’ or ‘highest’ nirvāṇa.usually denoting the state of nirvāṇa that is entered at death.in contrast to that attained during life. Also known as nirupādhiśeṣa-nirvāṇa. In the earliest sources nirvāṇa and parinirvāṇa are used interchangeably.
