Quick Reference

A fairly rare halo phenomenon, normally consisting of a principal arc, concave to the Sun, that lies above and just outside the 22° halo. The term has now been extended to other arcs, of varying curvature and complexity (depending on solar elevation), that are believed to arise from refraction through the same type of ice crystal.
