American statistician specializing in the analysis of time series. Parzen was awarded his AB by Harvard U in 1949 and then studied at UCB gaining his MA in 1951 and his PhD in 1953. He subsequently held posts on the faculties of Columbia U (1953), Stanford U (1956), SUNY (1970), and Texas A & M U (1978). A member of the AAAS, he was awarded the 1994 Wilks Award of the ASA.
