Quick Reference

Bolognese architect. He designed the tower of IJsselstein Church, near Utrecht, The Netherlands (1532–5), with its vertical sequence of Orders. The Residenz (Seat of the Court) at Jülich (1548–c.71), which introduced High Renaissance motifs to Germany, shows that he was familiar with Bramante's work.
