Ballet in one act with choreography by Massine, libretto and designs by G. Yakulov, and music by Prokofiev. Premiered 7 Jun. 1927 by the Ballets Russes de Diaghilev, at the Théâtre Sarah Bernhardt in Paris, with Tchernicheva, Danilova, Massine, Lifar, and Woizikowski. The ballet shows scenes of daily Soviet life and features machinery dancing in a factory. It was heavily influenced by Soviet Constructivist art.
