Quick Reference

One of five groups of trace fossils established in a behavioural (ethological) classification by A. Seilacher (1953). Grazing traces (pascichnia) result from the distinctive behavioural pattern of an animal during feeding. Deposit feeders, e.g. Nereites, leave a recognizable trace through the exploitation of sediment for nutrition.
