A defined course that is usually followed. The centric path of closure is the path taken by the mandible during closure when the musculature is in balance. The occlusal path is the line of movement of an occlusal surface as it glides over an opposing surface. The path of insertion is the direction in which a prosthesis is inserted into the mouth or a cast restoration is inserted into a tooth.
