An apocryphal book written in Greek and put into circulation in the 2nd cent. It was designed to glorify St Paul's achievements and incorporates much legendary material. A number of treatises which circulated independently are now known to be parts of this work, among them the ‘Martyrdom of Paul’, the ‘Acts of Paul and Thecla’, and possibly the ‘Third Epistle of Paul to the Corinthians’ (qq.v.).
