(1822–91) Union naval officer, born in Troy, New York. Pattison was a successful commander in the early years of the Civil War and for its duration he either held responsible positions on shore or commanded warships. He was commander of the U.S. Navy Station, Memphis, Tennessee, from 1863 to 1865.
