P blood group

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A human blood group identified by a glycolipid antigen specified by the dominant gene P on the long arm of chromosome 22. The P antigen binds to the fimbriae of certain strains of E. coli. Therefore, individuals homozygous for null P alleles are less susceptible to infection than P-positive individuals. See fimbria.
