Scale of 5 notes widely found in folk mus. (Scottish, Chinese, Negro, etc.) and found as early as 2000 bc. Can be easily prod. by playing 5 black keys only of pf., beginning with F♯. The tune of Auld Lang Syne is pentatonic.
