A mountain in Moab where the people of Israel began to revere the pagan god (Baal) of Peor and suffered for it (Num. 25: 5). Balak, king of Moab, took Balaam there (Num. 23: 28) that he might curse his Israelite enemies, but instead he prophesied that Moab would be crushed.
